Program information

Scholarship programs are sponsored by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs and include programs such as Fulbright, Humphrey, UGrad, SEALYP, and SUSI, among many others. The programs provide a fully-funded opportunity to:

  • study, teach, and/or conduct research
  • exchange ideas
  • find solutions to shared international concerns
  • learn about the United States

Deadlines for each program are different – please review individual program details carefully.

 

2017 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program 
The deadline for applications is December 30, 2016.

The goal of the UGRAD program is to provide students from under-represented communities an educational exchange experience in U.S. colleges or universities to strengthen their leadership, professional skills, and commitment to community service, while exploring U.S. values and culture.

2017 Southeast Asia Youth Leadership Program
The deadline for submission is December 28, 2016.

The SEAYLP program is a three-week exchange program in the United States focused on leadership and youth development. The exchange will take place in April 2017 and participants will implement follow-on projects in their home communities after the program. The program welcomes applications from both student participants and adult chaperones.

2016 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Scholars
The deadline for submission is December 30, 2016.

SUSIs for Scholars are intensive post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours to give foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions. The Institutes will take place at various colleges, universities, and institutions throughout the United States over the course of six weeks beginning in or after June 2017. Each Institute includes a four-week academic residency component and up to two weeks of an integrated study tour. Selected participants must attend all lectures and organized activities and complete assigned readings. Institute curriculum will not formally address teaching methodology and pedagogical methods.

2017 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Secondary School Educators (Teachers)

The deadline for submission is December 30, 2016.

SUSI for Secondary School Educators (Teachers) program is an intensive post-graduate level academic program with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign secondary educators the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions. The ultimate goal of SUSI is to strengthen curricula and to enhance the quality of teaching about the United States in secondary schools and other academic institutions abroad. The program will include a four week academic residency component and a one week integrated study tour in June 2017.
